If you missed class today, please purchase the textbook. It will be in the bookstore shortly and you can order it cheaply from Amazon. We will begin working on Assignment #1 next week, but if your book hasn't arrived yet you will be accommodated this week.

By next Thursday, please make sure that you have taken these steps. All of your assignments will be submitted the following way, so make sure that you can do this:

1. Log in to your student FTP account. This is where you will upload your files. Use the program Filezilla. This can be found on your Desktop if you are using a school computer. If you are at home, you can download the program Filezilla by clicking here.
2. When you load Filezilla, at the top you will notice some boxes. In the ADDRESS box put student-iat.ubalt.edu. In the USER box put your last name, or your lastName_firstInitial. In the password box put your entire student ID number, or the last 4 digits. Try either if one doesn't work. Click QUICKCONNECT.
3. On the right-hand side you should see a large box, perhaps with some files and folders in it, perhaps empty. This is your main forlder. Right-click in an empty area of it and click CREATE NEW DIRECTORY. Title it cosc260.
4. Now open a web browser like Firefox or Internet Explorer and go to blogger.com. If you don't have one, create an account.
5. Open a new tab by hitting CTRL+T on the keyboard. In the address field of this tab type http://student-iat.ubalt.edu/sde/students/your_login_name/cosc260 Your_login_name is of course whatever you used to log in earlier.
6. Hit enter. The page should say "forbidden". If it says "not found" then check to see if you typed it correctly. If you did and it still doesn't work, email me.
7. Copy this address by highlighting it and hitting CTRL+C.
8. Go back to your blog tab. Create a new post. Title it "First COSC 260 post". In the body, type "Link". Highlight the word "Link", then above that click the button that says "Link" when you hover over it. In the pop-up, paste your link by hitting CTRL+V. Hit OK.
9. Now hit PUBLISH POST below your text. You're almost done!
10. Hit VIEW BLOG. Copy the address of your blog from the address bar and send it to me in an email with your full name.
